Paths of Prakriti is a two manband with frontman Jon Reier and Ole Kristain Malmedal from Rancho Relaxo, who's new Album will be released in some days on my Label. The duo from Trondheim, Norway are presenting us delightful Raga Psychedelia. Their debut Album is set to be released in near future. I'm curious about it!
The Velvet Illusions from Los Angeles released this song on one of their 1967 singles. The B-Side was "She Was The Only Girl". Sadly the band existed only two years (1966-68). Enjoy this Garage-Psych track!
Nalle is Glasgow based band feat. Hanna Tuulikki. Alongside Chris Hladowski (bouzouki, saz, clarinet et al) and Aby Vulliamy (viola, piano, voice et al) the songs are built around Hanna’s unbridled vocals and guitar playing, with occasional sojourns on recorder and Finnish kantele. Recent recordings have also seen Nalle expand to include Ben Reynolds on harmonica and double bass, Raymond MacDonald on sax, Peter Nicholson on double bass and Alex Neilson on Drums. The music draws on a whole gamut of musical traditions, weaving instrumental tapestries around hypnotic, almost ballad-like vocal narratives, cultivating a deeply personal and idiosyncratic approach that outweighs the sum of its parts.
Hanna Tuulikki and Chris Hladowski, who are both playing in a the UK band "the Family Elan", will delight us with a magic Incredible String Band-like track for an upcomming psychedelic compilation on Merlins Nose Records.
One of the classic psych singles to come out of Florida was 'Anxious Color' by The Painted Faces. They were short lived but left behind some fine singles. Their first 45 was released locally on Qualicon. This coupled the moody folk rock lament 'Things We See' with 'I Want You'... The former turning up again as the flip to the Manhattan release.
'Anxious Color' is where it's at though with raga sounding guitar leads giving the song a psychedelic sound. According to the liners of the Distortion compilation this 45 was a big hit in South West Florida, hitting number 1 on some stations. It even got extensive airplay on Los Angeles stations making the Top 10. This was probably due to their Mike Curb connections. (~ Flower Bomb Songs)
John and Philipa Cooper came from Johannesburg in South Africa. But they were not alone, ... Julian Laxton (lead guitar), Art de Villiers (acoustic guitar), Bob Hill (bass), Werner Krupski (keyboards), Francesco (fiddle), Ivor Back (drums), Rory Blackwell (tambourine) helped them out, so they had a nice band together. to categorize their music, I would propose to call it droney acid folk. Someone is playing sitar and robust bass lines are holding the trancy vocals and the psychedelic organ.
An elephant's memory is legendarily large, and so was the size and scope of the New York band that went by the same name. Unlike some other horn-rock ensembles of the late-'60s that took advantage of the freedom to expand rock's size and sound, however, Elephants Memory weren't merely a rock band with jazz overtones. There was plenty of pile-driving rock'n'roll, and a good deal of jazz of both the free and big band varieties. But there was also soul, spaced-out psychedelia... (~Richie Unterberger)
The Plastic Cloud recorded their debut in 1967 and released it 1968. They sound like a garage version of Jefferson Airplane (before 1969). Enjoy the wild and psychedelic tune!
vinyl-rip at 320 k/Bits. Propably recorded around 1970. Following informations are taken from the LP.
Acyutananda Swami is an American sannyasi, who left his homeland at the age of 16 years and has been living in India since the last 10 years studying the spiritual culture and music of India. He is world renowned for his masterful singing of Bengali Vaisnava folk songs and playing on mrdanga (clay drum, unique to Bengal). The recordings on this LP were taken in Mayapura, India, and we beg the listeners to excuse the obvious shortcomings due to circumstances beyond our control. This record has been produced especially with the idea of helping the needy people of Bengal by sending the profits above the cost of actual production to our international center in Mayapura, India (Bengal), where thousands of people are fed each day from contributions coming through the sales of this record. Give generously.

Along withthe song "Country Life", this one was released by Blonde on Blonde on their 1968 single. Nice Ragas with Sitar and tabla, but it seems, like the band was gettin' bad, the older they grew. so let's enjoy this pre-debut album song.
"Hide Your Stash" can be found on their first album from 2007, released on Feret Hole Records in Canada. The Band itself comes from England. The Track is very psychedelic, but sometimes these guys are very bold and in german we would call it "Rotzlöffel". For example you've got to listen to the lyrics of "Elizabeth" on their myspace site: http://www.myspace.com/thestrawberryjamexperience
Wild psychedelic, paranoid, garage-fuzz. Released on one of their 1967 Singles "Suzy Creamcheese / From Day to Day". Watch out for an other song by the band -> "Haight-Ashbury"
The Byrds mixed up with the Mamas & Papas and Jefferson Airplane, ready is the Peanut Butter Conspiracy. This song makes the sound liquid and the colors shiny. Pay attention to the lyrics ;).
The track is awaiting you in really nice quality, not like all the vinyl rips, that are circulating here araound, ... I mean, they are better than nothing, but with this title as example, you know, what I mean ;)... the guitar riffs are giving a lot of rythm, the voice, surrounds it and the backchor for the refrain still makes it more psychedelic: the floating feeling. Some of their tracks can be found on the Mindrocker, the Acid Visions and the Teenage Shutdown Vol. 10. On the bands lifetime, they only released on single "Enough of What I Need / Hate". William Ash (guitar) later went to The Argyles and The Children (1968, Rebirth), where members from the 13th Floor Elevators played after they disbanded in 1968. The Golden Dawn was also a band, where the Rubayyat sourced their members from.
I know, it sucks, but the exact record date out there. the band never rleased it on 45, and also they propaply never did an album. 1966 is again just guessed. Ok, and now I will give you some lines I found on yoututbe about the girl, that is singing on this heavy-drum garage-psych track: Linda Pierre King was a folk-rock singer from Houstan,Texas.Eight of her recordings are featured on The Heartbeats & Added Texas Girls of the 60s/We had the Beat compilation. She moved to New York and frequented the famous beatnik hangout, Beanie Baby's Java Hut. The "king of barbershop" Norm Wooster fell in love with her singing and caused a musical transformation within him. She was also a follower of the individualist philosopher Ayn Rand. The Outcasts, who backed her on this organ-driven track, are not the legendary 1523 Blair band.
Comming from El Paso, Texas, they only released one Single in 1966 "Take It From Me / My Love". This track is from the Acid Visions Vol. 1, so I think it was prev. unreleased. No info to find, so I just guess it was recorded 1966 or 1967. Nice Organ driven Garage Rock will expect you! Enjoy! Greetings, Amadeus :)
this song is taken from the acid visions compilations. sailing the web, I found no bottle within a message for me, telling me, when this song was recorded, or even, who the Pearl Divers are... how can that be? welcome to the big world of psych comps, ... :D... well, nice soft psychedelic with echoing voices and nice lyrics... It sounds like it was recorded between 1966 and 68. Enjoy! greetings, amadeus :)
In 1968, the Orphan Egg did a an selftitled album. this is the first track of it and maybe the highlight along the other 11 tracks. Fine psychedelic Rock with a bit echoing voices, some fuzz and a really psychedelic atmosphere. You can download the complete album on hippy-djkit's Blog. Enjoy, greetings, amadeus :)!
here you've got the only really psychedelic song from his 1970 Album "The Visit from Bob Smith". The rest is Classic Rock / Westcoast Rock with some seldome fuzzin' guitars. All in all the album is highly overrated in my opinion. But anyway, this song is really nice, with flowting sound & sitar, enjoy! greetings, amadeus :)
The cover doesn't look like what is inside! Flying trough the desert, a sitar on your fold, riding in coloured clouds of acid fog. One of the finest Psych Folk I ever heared! you can download the complete album on Dr. Schluss' Garage Of Psychedelic Obscurities. Enjoy! greetings, amadeus :)
